MicroLaser Peel

Refined Erbium lasers are a new addition to today's anti-aging arsenal. New technological capabilities allow for an almost infinite choice in how gentle or aggressive these laser peels can be.

Each level provides a different end result, adjustable to fit the lifestyle needs and end desires of the patient. The new Sciton Erbium Laser System allows for treatment depths as minimal as 10 microns (similar to a glycolic acid peel) up to 120 microns (full resurfacing effect.)

The MicroLaserPeel™ is a partial-to-full epidermal laser peel that precisely removes the outermost layers of the skin. The procedure is individually tailored to the nature of the problem to be corrected. Wrinkles, scars, acne scars, keratoses and pigment problems are very successfully treated with the MicroLaserPeel™ at The Aesthetic Center at Tampa Eye Clinic.

Common Questions About MicroLaserPeel™

Who should consider MicroLaserPeel™?

If you are looking for more than microdermabrasion or light chemical peels, and you have little time for a prolonged healing process, MicroLaserPeel™ is ideal for you.

How is the MicroLaserPeel™different from microdermabrasion?

Generally, microdermabrasion only removes the outer layer of the skin (stratum corneum, 10-15 microns). MicroLaserPeel™ is a partial-to-full epidermal peel (20-50 microns) and is performed with topical anesthetic. Because this procedure goes deeper into the epidermis, it is the perfect step between microdermabrasion and full skin resurfacing.

How often does a MicroLaserPeel™ need to be done?

One procedure could be sufficient for at least 6 to 12 months, but additional procedures can be performed as necessary. A package of three to four treatments may be best for you. Your Tampa physician will determine what is necessary.

What can you expect?

Laser Eye Lid

Before

After

You will experience smoother, healthier, more vibrant skin, with a significant, immediate change in skin texture and tightness as compared to microdermabrasion.

What type of anesthesia is used?

A topical anesthetic is applied 30 to 45 minutes before the procedure.

Is any type of dressing or bandage required after the procedure?

No. Your physician will prescribe an ointment for you to apply that acts as a barrier to keep the air away from your skin while you grow new skin. You will probably use it for one or two days. After that, a moisturizer can be used. Your physician will provide you with detailed pre-and post-treatment information.

How long is the healing process?

Healing takes just three to four days. The procedure can be performed on a Thursday or Friday, so you can return to work the following Monday. Symptoms immediately following the procedure resemble a sunburn. You will have minor sloughing and itching on the second day. Redness will begin to fade by the third day and can be easily covered by makeup on the fourth day.
